When talking about the Lina Joy controversy, most of us clamouring it to be a religious conflict and the rooted from religious belief. Well... form my point of view... I'm not in the similar position of the said statement.

I would like to refer to a statement made by Karen Armstrong, a fellow speaker invited to speak at a conference, organised by the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on understanding between Islam and the western world.

She as quoted to be said;

"Religious tensions are exacerbated by political warfare, and not the converse," said the well-known author, faith activist and self-described freelance monotheist in a public lecture in Kuala Lumpur today.

Armstrong spoke eloquently on the bare fundamentals of faith, insisting that all major world religions came down to the same thing: compassion.


"If we dig down to the core of all religions, we uncover the same message. It is a message of peace and justice...It is the core of all human religion," she said.

This close companionship - Armstrong refers to it as a "family resemblance" - is nullified by tense political climates all over the world, resulting in the severe breakdown between religions that has often led to warfare and grief.

Thus... who are in power to be our government to day? I think its time to make a change. No more Barisan Nasional!

The re-elected PAS Deputy President at a press conference after the conclusion of the 53rd PAS Muktamar (convention) in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan today, Nasharudin said;

"Efforts must be made to ‘market’ the party and bolster support from the public."

This year PAS Muktamar (AGM) has a very huge significant towards facing the general election which rumored to held this year.

The 'young turks' (as reported by Malaysiakini) Ust. Nasarudin Mat Isa, Husam Musa and Mat Sabu which were elected since the last muktamar few years ago had given a promissing 'revolution' towards the second most sustainable party in Malaysia. The 'revolution' is to be said as the process of 'rebranding' and 'engagement'.

It seems that the efforts initiated by Ust Nasarudin and his team had successfully win the heart of majority of the PAS delegates. The evidence can be clearly manifested through the re-election of Ust. Nasarudin, Husam and Mat Sabu.

Neverthele... from my point of view, the success if yet to be enough. The true challenge to them is not the paty election, but the toughest is in the coming general election.

The out-come of the general election will prove how far does the 'young-turks' had succeed in the 'revolution' of PAS as the most consistent oppostion in Malaysia. I rather not be too ideal by dreaming that PAS will won the majority seats and able to become a Malaysia government.

It is enough if PAS could lead the oppositions' coalition strategically in making an impact in this coming general election by at least;

1. Decrease BNs' majority

2. Bringing back the quality of parliamentary debate as 1999 and before 2004 (the people never forgive the MP form Kinabatangan and Jasin!)

3. Increase the support and strenghten the grasp in Kelantan and foremost...

4. Winning the heart and support of the young generations!

Di dalam keputusan rayuan Lina Joy di Mahkamah Persekutuan tempoh hari, 3 hakim yang bersidang telah menghasilkan keputusan sepertimana berikut;

Mahkamah Shariah mempunyai bidang kuasa. Pertukaran status agama di dalam kad pengenalan perlu kebenaran mahkamah shariah (penghakiman penuh).

Yang menghairankan, mengapa wujud media-media yang menggambarkan seolah berlaku 'pertempuran' dalam kes Azlina Jailani? Lebih menakutkan, pertembungan yang dimaksudkan ialah antara Muslim dan bukan Muslim di Malaysia.

Bagi Kitaro, isu Azlina Jailani adalah satu proses pendidikan. Proses pendidikan di mana rakyat Malaysia samada yang Islam mahupun bukan Islam belajar bagaimana untuk menjadi rakyat matang dalam menangani krisis sesama rakyat negara. Jika dengan isu agama boleh menyebabkan rakyat Malaysia berpecah belah, maka amat mudah bagi mana-mana kausa asing menghancurkan keamanan Malaysia dengan hanya melontarkan 'emosi agama'.

Oleh itu, isu Azlina Jailani bukanlah satu 'pertempuran' antara ISlam dan bukan Islam. Agama bukan satu perkara yang boleh 'main-main'. Main-main bererti masuk senang-senang, keluar senang-senang. Apa kes?

Islam adalah agama tanggungjawab.

Sebab itu dalam ajaran Islam, Tuhan melarang umat Islam memaksa sesiapa untuk memeluk Islam atas hujah kebebasan beragama dan seseorang itu memilih sendiri agama yang dianutinya.

Tatkala dia memilih agamanya, maka menjadi tanggungjawab untuk melakukan yang terbaik pada agama yang dipilihnya. Maka, pilihlah samada anda mahu menjadi manusia bertanggungjawab atau manusia yang 'lari' dari tanggungjawab!
